Mother's Day

Mother's Day was great despite a few kinks. Our ward was split today, not a great Mother's Day idea. It had a few ladies in tears. Our ward has been together too long for anyone to be happy no matter where they split. We are still in the 5th ward while many of our friends are now in the 13th. Now for the big one, while having Mother's Day dinner at my house Garrett comes out crying with a bloody nose. In our house this is common for him, he gets bloody noses a lot sometimes for no reason at all. The big clencher was when I asked him if he picked his nose, his answer was no I stuck a screw up it. I found the screw, not a little one but a huge one that has blood on it. Moral of the story, do not stick a screw up your nose, it HURTS!! It was a great day, I even got to meet an great-aunt I have never had the opportunity to meet before. Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Family Blogs

We have spent a lot of time with Alan's family this week. It has been a lot of fun, a nephew getting married and his sister having baby in a couple of months so there was a shower for her. I found out about all of the family blogs that all of the nieces and nephews have. It has been fun to look at them, especially the ones that are out of state.

Playing Ball

We had a fun day of kite flying and baseball in the backyard! Alan thought it would be fun to hide, he doesn't realize that I post anything.

Crazy Hat Day

Our community center had a tween activity (7-11 year olds) that was a Crazy Hat Day. The girls got in the spirit. Megan poses with her friend Gabi from school. Aubrey poses for the camera.

Mother Daughter Lunch

Aubrey's activity day group had a Mother Daughter lunch for Mother's day. It was really fun. Here is a picture of Annie and Aubrey painting flower pots. It was too windy so I was wrapped in a blanket and forgot to take more pictures!

Ms. Smoot's Bridal Shower

Megan's fourth grade teacher Ms. Smoot is getting married, she invited Megan and her friend Bryn to her shower. We had a great time. Megan, Aubrey and I went together. Congratulations Ms. Smoot!

New Pics

Hey! Check out the new pics of the kids. They turned out great!!!!!!! These are the ones that I was worried about since it was snowing and the school made it an outside day. I am very happy with how they turned out.

It's Done

I finally have my final paper and final exam finished!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!! You would think that I would be thrilled. I am but still a little frustrated. I am in self pity mode unfortunately. Dumb isn't it. I have decided that it is based on five things:
*My teenage son is growing up too fast - how do I stop him?
*The constantly changing weather -will it ever be warm?
*Back pain - I am working on this one, going to a Chiropractor
*Too hectic of a schedule
*Not having Alan around enough!
I know I complain too much! So, I have found something good about each one:
*My son is so trusting and responsible - he talks to us about everything and that thrills me!
*The weather keeps us on our toes - is that positive?
*I am able to do anything despite my back pain.
*Seeing to joy in my kids faces in the events that they take part in!
*That Alan is such a loving person and willing to do anything for his family!
I have to say I have a pretty good life. I live in a great neighborhood with people who are amazing, and my kids have great friends that I can enjoy and feel secure having around.

Interesting Week!

We have had a fun week off track. Three baseball games. We went to see Nim's Island with my sister Lisa and her daughter Madi, it was a great movie. The three younger ones are taking swim lessons at the SJ pool. They had two lessons and then today got in the pool and two minutes later they pulled everyone out since someone had an accident in the pool! That was interesting. Instead of a lesson in the pool, they got one on the sidelines about pool safety. We topped off the week by going to the Elk Ridge Middle School play "Guys and Dolls". It was amazing, these kids are in middle school and they sailed through it. Great job Kip and Curtis, Zac's friends in the play! I am very impressed.

GREAT WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited because of the weather this weekend!! We went walking at the lake on Saturday and Sunday! I told Alan that I am usually content to relax, but this weekend I got bored so easily. I really hope this lasts! Snow last week and 70 degrees today, what a change!

Baseball!

Baseball season has begun! My life is baseball, baseball and did I mention more baseball? Garrett had his first game today. He got a hit off without the tee! We are proud. Zac is raring to go. His games don't start until next week. It is nice to have a week were the games don't compete with each other. So, if you can't get a hold of me, I am at baseball! Go Angels! Go Red Sox!

Snowboarding - March 24th, 2008

Zac
Alan
Alan
Zac

Alan and Zac went snowboarding at The Canyon's. They have decided that they like this the best of all the places they have been. They saw a bunch of Zac's friends there - Curtis and his sister, Ethan, Mitchell and Andrew I told them they had to take pictures since I had never seen them snowboard.

Easter Day

Our Easter was great. It snuck up early surprising the families this year. After all was said and done we had a quick dinner here at our house with our friend Mary, my Dad, Sherrie, Grandma and Uncle Dean. The kids colored eggs after Megan came home!

Meg's Easter basket - we had to take a photo early so we could send it with her camping!

Picture Perfect

It was school picture day and snowing outside! I had to take a picture before school just in case they lost their hair before picture! Luckily we think their hair made it since they still had some curl when they came home!

Flashlight Egg Hunt

The great moms in the neighborhood did an Easter egg hunt on the 13th-flashlight style! Aubrey and Sammy pose, Zac and Ethan, Garrett and Megan, Garrett and his friends!
A local church in the area did an Easter egg hunt for the neighborhood! It was one of the best ones we have gone too. Megan had gone camping for the weekend with my sister Lisa so she wasn't around and Zac is too old for this! We had fun with Auby and Garrett - March 15th

Blaze Game

Soap Fair

Zac's team in his CTE class at school had to make a bar of soap for a soap fair. They did a pretty good job. Here he is in the picture with his friend Dallyn to his left. Below is a picture of his friend Curtis's team (the one laying across the desk). They had a good time. They had a soap fair where they had to try and get the other kids to buy their soap with fake money and the team to make the most money won. Pictures courtesy of the Elk Ridge website.

Oquirrh Temple

I thought I would add some pictures of the Oquirrh temple. It has really come a long way!

More Pipe Drama

So...owning a home can be a real drag!!! Alan and I were standing in our room when I heard a noise that didn't fit. Dripping!! I looked up to find water starting to drip from our bedroom ceiling. Panic set in, not quite how we planned to spend Easter weekend with Alan home. Luckily we had bought the extended warranty on the house! They are going to cover it and we will have to pay a $50.00 deductible! It turns out that when the house was built the pipes were not glued properly and there were gaps where water has been leaking for a while. Megan had just taken a shower and it was too much. So enjoy the holes in our bedroom ceiling. I did have an advantage with this problem, I finally got in touch with our warranty guy and expressed some of my frustration with some of the things that have never been fixed!

Bad Medicine!

Bad image I know, that is what happens when you use a camera phone. My camera battery is dead and I can't find the charger. Had to have a picture of the cheeks! Nice and Red!

Allergic Reaction

We have come to the conclusion that Aubrey is allergic to Lortab. Over the last couple days she has been red in the cheeks, I attributed it to a little fever because she was a little warm. I kept her home from school yesterday since she was so tired. Last night after giving her the meds she came down and was bright red in the face. Since it was only Lortab that she had just been given we have pinned it down to that. I saw her teacher Mrs. Flitton today at a baseball meeting and she mentioned that she thought Auby looked swollen. This is how Garrett started when we found out that he was allergic to Motrin (all aspirin). I have a hunch that Lortab is aspirin related but am not positive. They say asthmatics are 50% chance of being allergic to it, we have taken her off it. I had told one person at the hospital about aspirin but not the doctor who wrote the prescription, I need to listen to my inner self and question everyone no matter who I have told. She is doing good tonight!

ER Visit

What a crazy weekend we had. The girls had a big day Saturday playing with their friends. In the afternoon Aubrey started complaining of an earache. I didn't worry too much since she said it just started. We were hoping it would be mild and we could get her in 1st thing Monday morning. By 1am it was so bad she was in tears, so she and I took a trip to the ER. I have to say it was the fastest trip ever, yeah!!!! They were so busy that they asked if we wanted to be seen in the hall so that we could go home. I jumped at the chance, they took her in a room long enough to look in her ears and then we were in the hall. We were home by 2:30am. Not bad considering that hour and a half included two trips, one there and one home! They put her on stronger antibiotics since this is her second ear infection in a matter of weeks. Apparently they didn't realize that in the middle of the night you haven't eaten. Needless to say, we now have pink carpet in the bedroom from medication coming back up. Today she is doing okay, still has the fever and really tired from the meds but the pain is going down.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day -- Happy B-day Nana!

Oops!

So you know that you are not paying close enough attention when you find something in your cupboard that is way past expired! How expired you may ask? Sunday we decided that we really wanted burritos, we had way too many soft tortilla shells left over from a family party we had recently at our house. I always have taco seasoning, but not this time. I was going through the cupboards and found some jars of liquid Taco Bell taco seasoning. Great huh? I knew it had been there awhile but could not find an expiration date. Alan looked on in and couldn't see it either, we thought it would be okay. I then noticed in tiny print the expiration date. You know something is old when the expiration date was before your 6 year old was born. 2001! I have really got to pay attention, I'm just glad I didn't use it. Janeille rescued me with a seasoning packet! Thanks Janeille!
